New Delivery System for Protein Packed Beverages

Niles, IL – Imbibe has developed a high-acid, RTD hydration beverage that delivers 40 grams of whey protein per 20 oz. serving. This product represents a home-run for the sports nutrition consumer looking to get a high-protein product that is both lactose free and contains no added sugar. Creating a clear beverage with 40 grams of protein is another feather in the hat for Imbibe, a beverage development company that has found its sweet spot in creating solutions to otherwise technically challenging projects where its competitors couldn’t quite “get it right”.

Imbibe Flavor Chemist Aparna Oak said she used flavor compounds such as citrus notes to help mask the strong and undesirable taste of the whey. “Even if we create a product with the most desirable nutrition profile, if it doesn’t taste good, no consumer will drink it” Oak added. The protein water is available in various fruit flavors and can be customized upon request.

The USDA recommends that 10-35% (approximately 50 grams) of your daily calorie intake comes from protein, as it is essential to repair cells found in and outside the body.  And drinking protein is the most efficient way to deliver those important amino acids to your blood stream since the protein is already in liquid form before it enters the digestive system.

As the trend and consumer demand for high-protein products continues to rise, brand owners are faced with the challenge of creating new product offerings which optimize both taste and function, and have unique points of differentiation so their brand can stay relevant in the eyes of consumers. Imbibe is excited to showcase the 40 gram protein water to brands looking to achieve just that- optimum taste, the ideal nutrition profile and a wide variety of flavors.
