Curcumin Spicing Up Food and Beverage

Many supermarket aisles include products with turmeric on their ingredient statements. Turmeric has been used as a natural coloring agent for some time in the food and beverage industry, but with the proliferation of functional food and beverage, use of the super root has exploded. Curcumin is the main active ingredient in turmeric responsible for its natural color and is also suggested to have a laundry list of benefits such as strong anti-inflammatory properties, improved brain function, lowered risk of brain diseases like Alzheimer’s, lowered risk of heart disease, anti-cancer effects and improved mood.
