Financial Data Analyst

Financial Data Analyst – Niles, IL

The Financial Data Analyst role will be supporting major FP&A processes by designing and developing tools, techniques, metrics, and dashboards for insights/data visualization. You will be working with data in SQL and other systems, to build new tools, models, dashboards, and reports as your primary responsibility. You will also be using Excel/PowerPoint to model and tell stories about the data you're analyzing.

Specifically, this role will support the financial reporting and forecasting processes and projects that drive insight into financial performance, identify opportunities to improve workflow through report automation.

 

Responsibilities
As a consensus-driven communicator you will liaise across various business units and translate the business needs to design and develop tools, techniques, metrics, and dashboards for insights/data visualization to effect company change.

  • Operational KPIs and Reporting
    • Periodic forecasts, performance reports and dashboards
    • Preparation of Month End Reports with in-depth and robust analytics into variance explanations
    • Partner with Supply Chain Operations to control and mitigate cost; articulate variances
  • Analytics
    • Create BI tools to help the team make better decisions and Identify opportunities to unlock value (Power BI experience is a plus)
    • Display complex quantitative data in a simple, intuitive format and to present findings in a clear and concise manner
    • Track outcomes and portfolio performance in accordance with budget and strategic direction
  • Budgeting and Forecasting
    • Participate in annual budgeting process based on “bottom-up” build of underlying KPIs
    • Provide periodic reforecasts based on recent historical trends and change in business dynamics

 

Qualifications & Education Requirements

  • 3+ years of experience as a Financial Analyst, or analyzing financial data in some capacity (ideally for FP&A)
  • 3+ years of experience in driving data analysis, financial planning, financial modeling statistical analysis and/or BI Development
  • Some Power BI experience
  • Strong SQL experience
  • Advanced Excel skills
  • Some Microsoft Dynamics NAV and SharePoint experience desirable
