Lab Technician/Compounder – Niles, IL

Imbibe is seeking a lab Technician or Compounder to join the Taste Modulation team. If you enjoy being in the lab and have experience with supporting the R&D team in the development of new, innovative beverages – We want to talk to you!

This person will be involved in batching beverage products and flavor formulas, taking analytical data, and helping maintain inventory of raw materials.

Primary Responsibilities:

• Assist developers as needed.
• Batch up and package multiple test variables of beverage products and/or flavors to aid the new product development process. Record formula, process and product data for pilot plant runs and customer samples.
• Independently run processing machines and techniques from bench top to pilot plant scale such as: Hot Filling, Spray Drying, Homogenization, Forced Carbonation, High shear mixers, etc.
• Follow batching instructions provided by developers to batch flavors or finished beverages.
• Gather analytical information; including specific gravity and flashpoints of flavors, and confirm beverages meet quality requirements such as pH, TA, Brix, Water Activity, and particle size.
• Manage shelf-life testing activities for assigned projects. Schedule evaluation, set-up product samples, record data, and summarize results/trends.
• Support the bottling, labeling, and shipping efforts to ensure new product samples are successfully delivered to our customers.
• Follow all Good Manufacturing Practice guidelines during the production of beverage products. This includes properly cleaning and organizing all work areas and wearing all proper food safety and personal protective equipment.

 

Qualification and Requirements:

• High School Graduate or GED required
• Experience in a Food manufacturing production facility or laboratory is strongly preferred
• Team player willing to do what it takes to support the development and launch of new products on tight timelines in a fast-paced environment
• Ability to adapt to the changing needs of the lab
• Attention to detail
• Ability to lift to 30 lbs.
• Strong math skills
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office software products including Outlook, Excel and Word
