Sensory Lab Technician

Imbibe is seeking a Sensory Technician to help grow our sensory and consumer insights capabilities. The Sensory Technician would be responsible for day-to-day scheduling, maintenance, and execution of key sensory evaluations and would have the opportunity to prepare data and reporting for both internal and external audiences. The ideal candidate would have attention to detail in the execution of on-going daily business activities, be curious to better understand and explain results of studies, and be willing to continue to grow and develop new capabilities as the needs of the organization change.  

Primary responsibilities:

  • Support R&D teams with organoleptic shelf-life set up inclusive of scheduling daily tastings and preparing and labeling samples
  • Create, follow, and maintain a standard protocol for shelf-life tasting evaluations inclusive of recommended sample conditions, presentation, data collection, and panel maintenance/training
  • Own opportunity identification for shelf-life tasting process improvement or standardization
  • Maintain shelf-life dashboard; ensure scheduling of studies, on-time deployment of ballots on Compusense, and delivery of shelf-life evaluations per Wrike timelines
  • Export and document shelf-life data related to sensory evaluations
  • Support internal project team tastings, acting as a subject matter expert for sensory and ensuring objective-driven tasting sessions with fit-for-purpose sample presentation and actionable outcomes
  • Create ad-hoc reporting as demanded by project needs for progress updates to customers with guidance from sensory and consumer insights manager
  • Assist on other evaluations with guidance from sensory and consumer insights manager inclusive of customer virtual tasting surveys, employee difference/affective testing, and online consumer research
  • Create reports and present data to internal teams and customers on an as-needed basis to support customer tastings

Requirements:

  • Bachelor of Science in food science, chemistry, or related field
  • Previous experience working in a laboratory setting
  • Comfortable with interpretation of data and communicating research results to both internal and external audiences
  • Ability to adapt to changing needs
  • Experience with or willingness to learn key systems – Compusense, Wrike
